HTC Thunderbolt, the new Android-based smartphone, in Verizon Wireless’ 4G smartphone portfolio, is packed with an array of high end features. It will offer blazing fast data download speed through Verizon’s 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network.

The 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network, launched by Verizon Wireless in December, last year, is touted to be the most advanced and fastest 4G network in the US. Compared to the carrier’s 3G network, the new 4G LTE delivers ten times faster data transfer speed.

HTC Thunderbolt features
Powered by the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and running on the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, HTC Thunderbolt is the first smartphone featuring built-in video Skype mobile. Skype mobile with video calling significantly eases video conferencing.

Video calling with the integrated Skype mobile is as easy as making a normal voice call. Features such as presence icons, built into the user’s contacts list, will tell the user whether a friend is available for video calling.

The Android-based device features a large 4.3-inch high-resolution WVGA capacitive touch screen display. Users would appreciate the intuitiveness of the HTC Sense 2.0 user interface. For shutterbugs, the smartphone offers an 8-megapixel rear camera equipped with dual LED flash, auto focus, face detection and geo tagging features.

You can shoot 720p high-definition video with Thunderbolt’s impressive camera. Videos footages recorded with the Android phone’s camera could be instantly uploaded on YouTube. The front facing 1.3-megapixel secondary camera will aid video calling.

The 4G-enabled device could be used in Mobile Hotspots, where you can share the high-speed 4G connection with eight Wi-Fi devices. The 4G LTE capable smartphone will offer 5 to 12 Megabits per second download speed and 2 to 5 Megabits per second upload speed in areas covered by Verizon’s 4G Mobile Broadband network. The smartphone will be shipped with 32GB microSD memory card.

HTC Thunderbolt also features Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS, FM radio, microUSB port, G-Sensor, light sensor and proximity sensor.
